 &lt;p class=MsoNormal&gt;&lt;span style='font-family:"Georgia","serif"'&gt;The Board approved the 2012 budget and no increase was necessary for 2012.&amp;nbsp; You can expect to receive your 2012 assessment statement in the mail this week. &amp;nbsp;The assessment is due on February 1&lt;sup&gt;st&lt;/sup&gt; and late after the 10&lt;sup&gt;th&lt;/sup&gt;.&amp;nbsp; &lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p class=MsoNormal&gt;&lt;span style='font-family:"Georgia","serif"'&gt;&lt;o:p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p class=MsoNormal&gt;&lt;span style='font-family:"Georgia","serif"'&gt;The Board is planning an Annual Oyster Roast in the coming weeks to showcase the improvements that have been done to the pavilion area.&amp;nbsp; Over the last few months, more seating was installed including hanging swings overlooking the marsh and a large picnic table was added under the pavilion to accommodate a larger group.&amp;nbsp; A walking path was also created for easier access to the dock and the new fire pit.&amp;nbsp; The Pavilion area has become a great place for community and personal gatherings.&amp;nbsp; Information on the Oyster Roast will be emailed once the details are set.&amp;nbsp; &lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt; The solicitors are giving various stories, but         several claim (FRAUDULENTLY) to be members of a local school sports         team &amp;#8211; One saying West Ashley High, the next saying James Isl         Christian, or some other school (don&amp;#8217;t bother trying to check         them out with the schools, it is all false).&lt;br&gt;         &lt;br&gt;         It is unclear whether you would ever actually receive your magazines,         but at least in these cases the people are outright lying to make a         sale. At least two are girls. They try to be convincing. Don&amp;#8217;t be         conned.&lt;br&gt;         &lt;br&gt;         IF YOU ENCOUNTER THESE PEOPLE, TELL THEM YOU ARE NOT INTERRESTED. MAKE         NOTE OF THEIR DESCRIPTION AND DIRECTION OF TRAVEL AND CALL POLICE         IMMEDIATELY (577-7434) SO OFFICERS CAN RESPOND AND INTERVIEW THEM.&lt;br&gt;         &lt;br&gt;         They will be checked for ID and warrants, at least warned and         dispersed, and might even be cited or arrested. (one was arrested on         Daniel Island today for drug possession). Also be advised that often         other crimes follow these individuals, including neighborhood         car-break-ins and fraud involving the checks citizens write to them.&lt;br&gt;         &lt;br&gt;  &lt;p class=MsoNormal&gt;&lt;span style='font-family:"Georgia","serif"'&gt;Grassy Creek continues to grow.&amp;nbsp; In the past several months the ARC has received four applications for new construction projects.&amp;nbsp; Two have recently been given final approval so construction has already begun.&amp;nbsp; There are two additional applications that are in the final stages of review and are expected to begin construction within the next month or so.&amp;nbsp; &lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p class=MsoNormal&gt;&lt;span style='font-family:"Georgia","serif"'&gt;&lt;o:p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p class=MsoNormal&gt;&lt;span style='font-family:"Georgia","serif"'&gt;The Pavilion has seen many improvements this summer as well.&amp;nbsp; With the addition of a couple of swinging benches, a new larger grill and more seating options, the Pavilion has become a wonderful gathering spot.&amp;nbsp; The Board hopes that more homeowners will utilize the Pavilion.&amp;nbsp; The landscape committe has been working hard to make improvements that will encourage more use. A couple of bench swings have been added along with additional rocking chairs. A new larger grill was puchased and installed last week. This would allow office, retail, service type uses and a hotel, among other things.&lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p class=MsoNormal style='text-align:justify'&gt;&lt;font size=3 face=Arial&gt;&lt;span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:Arial'&gt;&lt;o:p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p class=MsoNormal style='text-align:justify'&gt;&lt;font size=3 face=Arial&gt;&lt;span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:Arial'&gt;The church submitted a Master Sketch Plan with their zoning application, which is intended to be a representative example of future development on the property. It is a possible scenario based on the allowed uses outlined above. The church would like to get a flexible plan approved with many possible uses so that when an actual buyer is found in the future, they can get their plans approved by Town of &lt;st1:City w:st="on"&gt;&lt;st1:place  w:st="on"&gt;Mt Pleasant&lt;/st1:place&gt;&lt;/st1:City&gt; staff. There would be no further public hearings with neighborhood input into the actual buyer&amp;#8217;s plans. We want to have a say in what goes next to our neighborhood. If we don&amp;#8217;t defeat this now, we may never get to object again. The application proposes to limit truck traffic to the hours between 9 AM and 3 PM but this will be difficult if not impossible to police. The application relies on a traffic impact assessment approved in 2007, which was not based on the expected future truck traffic or the current road and traffic conditions. A 75 foot long 18 wheel truck weighing up to 80,000 lbs. has a far greater impact on traffic than a 14 foot long car weighing 5,000 lbs. The intersection of &lt;st1:Street w:st="on"&gt;&lt;st1:address  w:st="on"&gt;Long Point Road&lt;/st1:address&gt;&lt;/st1:Street&gt; and &lt;st1:Street w:st="on"&gt;&lt;st1:address  w:st="on"&gt;Belle Hall Parkway&lt;/st1:address&gt;&lt;/st1:Street&gt; is already an &amp;#8220;F&amp;#8221; grade intersection. However, a residential use is more compatible with the adjoining Grassy Creek and Belle Hall neighborhoods. This might be combined with small office buildings such as those already found along &lt;st1:Street w:st="on"&gt;&lt;st1:address w:st="on"&gt;Seacoast   Parkway&lt;/st1:address&gt;&lt;/st1:Street&gt;. We would like to see the Comprehensive Land Use Plan changed to reflect the surrounding residential neighborhoods and the roads leading to the property. The town needs to put the health safety and welfare of our residents ahead of creating less than 100 warehouse jobs. Residents can call SCE&amp;amp;G and report the light out or call the management company.  Please note that when you contact SCE&amp;amp;G or the management company the utility company will need to know the nearest address to the light pole or the actual light pole number.  Sometimes this pole number is a metal tag attached near the base of the pole. This is the only way that SCE&amp;amp;G can put in a work order to have the light fixed. Corrugated cardboard is considered cardboard boxes with a middle “waffle-like” layer.&lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:'Arial','sans-serif';font-size:10;"&gt;&lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:'Arial','sans-serif';font-size:10;"&gt;In addition to cardboard, the County is now also accepting all paper items to include envelopes with plastic windows, gift wrapping paper, etc. &lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:'Arial','sans-serif';font-size:10;"&gt;&lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:'Arial','sans-serif';font-size:10;"&gt;“We are excited to announce that Charleston County now accepts cardboard and all types of paper in our curbside bins and dropsites,” Condon said. “If you can tear it, recycle it in your bin.”&lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:'Arial','sans-serif';font-size:10;"&gt;&lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:'Arial','sans-serif';font-size:10;"&gt;In honor of Earth Day, the County has compost on sale for the month of April at the Bees Ferry Landfill for $1 per bag or $5 per ton, which is half off the regular price. &lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:'Arial','sans-serif';font-size:10;"&gt;&lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;b&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:'Arial','sans-serif';font-size:10;"&gt;How to recycle cardboard:&lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;ul style="MARGIN-TOP: 0in" type="disc"&gt;&lt;li style="mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1" class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:'Arial','sans-serif';font-size:10;"&gt;Residents with curbside service can now place cardboard at the curb with their regular recyclables that are placed in one bin for plastic bottles, glass bottles, aluminum cans, steel cans and aerosol cans, and in another bin for paper, such as magazines, newspaper, junk mail, paperboard (examples: cereal boxes, tissue boxes, etc.) and office paper. &lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li style="mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1" class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:'Arial','sans-serif';font-size:10;"&gt;Curbside residents should flatten and place cardboard boxes, up to three feet by three feet in size, between or under their two bins or inside a separate bin. Curbside recycling in Charleston County is collected bi-weekly in the urban areas starting at 7 a.m.&lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li style="mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1" class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:'Arial','sans-serif';font-size:10;"&gt;Rural residents, as well as curbside users who have cardboard pieces larger than three feet by three feet, can drop their cardboard off at the &lt;a href="http://www.charlestoncounty.org/Departments/SolidWaste/D-RecyLocat.htm"&gt;drop site locations and County staffed Convenience Centers&lt;/a&gt;. Charleston County Environmental Management maintains 40 cardboard drop sites and eight Convenience Centers located throughout the County.&lt;o:p&gt;&lt;/o:p&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li style="mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1" class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:'Arial','sans-serif';font-size:10;"&gt;Residents in the rural parts of the County can utilize drop sites and Convenience Centers for recycling services. Drop site locations are open 24 hours per day and seven days a week and are not staffed.
